Some major continuities are how tombs are used as a show of wealth and power based on size, what’s inside and the placement. For example, how Li Bing’s tomb was built near the Changling tomb as Gaozu wanted to glorify his family as the source of state power and his father as the source of a successful and long dynastic succession. A trend for the Han dynasty was rock-cut tombs. Major trends for the Ming Dynasty was having titles for the tombs, or carved and detailed tiled roofs. Other than those similarities, these tombs were very different and share no clear pattern. Some major changes are how it feels like the size of tombs is shrinking and the secrecy is disappearing which has led to it becoming more likely for tombs to be stolen from like the contents of Ming Tombs which have been robbed.
